Rebel has been with the rescue since he was a little foal. He was born on a wild horse sanctuary and came to us shortly after he was born.
He had a few health troubles when he was young. At a few months old, he had a low grade infection which was treated with antibiotics, but they didn't do much for him. After some time, he received plasma, which put him on the road to recovery. He sometimes loses his winter coat later in the spring (which seems to be normal with some mustangs). He is by nature a slender horse, but does need to eat sufficiently in order to keep his weight. He is currently eating beet pulp to help him keep the weight on.
Rebel is a spunky chestnut Mustang gelding exploding with character. He's halter broke, leads, ties. We are working on his manners with the farrier, though if the farrier can show Rebel that he doesn't run the world, he is fine (see the pictures with Rebel being a good boy with our amazing farrier). Rebel is extremely active and loves to run around. In his pen, he tends to paw at everything in his path, be it the fencing, his food trough or the ground. Rebel is playful and enjoys playing with toys in his pen like the Jolly Ball or just bounce around all over the place.
He is up to date on vaccinations and deworming. He is currently 14 hands and growing.
In his ideal home, he will have an experienced horseperson who has the confidence and authority to teach Rebel manners and provides him with consistent work.
