Jazz's Story

Jazz is a 10 year old Thoroughbred.

He came to the rescue as an 8 year old with severely neglected "pancake feet" and very fearful of humans. After two years of fixing up his feet, his hooves have gotten a lot better! Per the vet and farrier, as long as he's on a consistent trimming routine, his feet should be fine.

He has also gotten over of his fear of humans and is now a very sweet lad who will follow you around.

He *may* be sound for very light riding (or possibly a leadline horse for little kids?) if vet approved. His hindquarters should be vet checked, as occasionally it looks like his hind legs give out on him a little when he is running in the pasture. That being said, he doesn't have a problem galloping all over the pastures at all and he's a happy fella.

We were told that Jazz is an OTTB and has won $60K, but he is not tattoed so he couldn't have run in an official track (as far as we know).

Jazz leads and ties. He is not a farrier's friend and needs to be sedated for the farrier, or Jazz will plant himself there like a tree.

With his pasture manners, Jazz was gelded once he came to us as an 8 year old and occasionally can act a little "studdy" and protective of his mare friends. However, he is fine being in a pasture with other geldings and mares, as he's currently in pasture with both.
