Cochise's Story
Cochise is a mustang hailing from the Virginia range in Nevada. His parents were rounded up and he was born in captivity. He is a beautiful brown pinto color.
Cochise came to the rescue when he was young. He has spent three weeks at a Monty Roberts clinic when he was younger, but they had trouble working with him and even getting his halter on.
He is *somewhat* halter trained. Keyword "somewhat". It's a pain to get the halter on. He will take it off as soon as he can; he's a pro at taking off halters. If he has his halter on and you can get close to him, he has led and tied before. However, he has been out to pasture for a while to grow, so he has not been worked with much recently. He likely needs to start from the ground up.
He is fine being pastured with other geldings and mares.
He is very cautious and wary of humans at this time. He will need time and consistency in training. He would thrive with an experienced handler and daily training to build his confidence and trust.
